How to Measure Your Product for the Perfect Mailer or Envelope

Step 1: Measure the product

Measure length, width, and height in centimeters. For soft items, measure when laid flat.

Step 2: Add clearance

  • Add 1–2 cm to width and height for flat items.
  • Add 2–3 cm to each dimension for thicker or bulkier items.

Step 3: Match the bag opening

Remember that a bag size is usually written as width × height + flap. Your product must fit through the opening, not just match the final bag dimensions.

Quick example

A 10 × 15 cm card fits comfortably in a 12 × 17 cm self-seal bag. If in doubt, go one size up rather than forcing a tight fit.
